Gossiping & Backbiting

Pleasant words are as an honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones. Whoever keeps his mouth and his tongue, keepeth his soul from troubles. The words of a talebearer are as wounds, and they go down into the innermost parts of the belly. Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers. Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you. Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers and sisters, this should not be. Can both fresh water and salt water flow from the same spring?

ASK YOURSELF:

Who says lip and tongue will not utter deceit at times?
What can bitter words do to one's mood?
Do you often see yourself in the picture?

Gossiping and backbiting are all sinful and evil in the sight of God. God punished the Israelites in the desert for grumbling and rumor mongering. Of the twelve spies sent to spy the land in Canaan, only two of the twelve- Caleb and Joshua, gave positive reports. The ten others gave negative reports that affected most of the Israelites that they begun to grumble against God and Moses. All of them died in the desert where they wandered for forty years. Thanks for the post. God bless you always.

Hello May:)

Very educative and thought provoking post.

There is much useful instruction contained in this message.

A mouth can be used to create animosity or it can be used to form an everlasting bond of friendship and love.

Many people have lost innumerable benefits in life on account of improper use of the tongue.

The choice is ours.

Best wishes:)
Joseph

Hi May! :-)

The post reminds me of a friend's marriage. Her husband was always inclined to heap verbal abuse on her with every little reason he could see or conjure up. My friend, a sweet submissive woman, bore her cross with patience and prayer but she suffered immensely. The end result was the lonely shadow of a woman low on self-esteem, feeling miserable, helpless in bearing the pain of emotional abuse.

Truly out of the mouth, as Joseph also said, a person can be a blessing or a curse... can build up or destroy.

Do have a blessed day.
God bless you and yours.

Paul said our tongue is like a two edged sword. But the bible says that out of the abundance of the heart tha mouth speaketh. The mouth is just an instrument of what is inside the heart. May our prayers be like David when he said, create in me a clean heart oh God and renew a right spirit within me.
