God is love and love is God. Love is the very essence and nature of God. True love originates from God for He first loved us. Thanks for the post. God bless you always.

LOVE the picture of true love, and the descriptions of love. "Love is blind!" This speaks volumes to me! I'm praising God for coming here today, and for you, my dear sister in Christ. This message is helping me more than you could possibly know!

One of my favorite definitions of love is the one in 1 Corinthians 13:4-7, I'm especially partial to the way it reads in The Message paraphrase:

" Love never gives up.
Love cares more for others than for self.
Love doesn't want what it doesn't have.
Love doesn't strut,
Doesn't have a swelled head,
Doesn't force itself on others,
Isn't always "me first,"
Doesn't fly off the handle,
Doesn't keep score of the sins of others,
Doesn't revel when others grovel,
Takes pleasure in the flowering of truth,
Puts up with anything,
Trusts God always,
Always looks for the best,
Never looks back,
But keeps going to the end. "

Hello May:)

Love has wonderful qualities such as the ones you have described. But in these days true love is a very rare commodity except perhaps mother's love for her child.

And here is another quality of love.True lover will give the his or her own life for his love. If you read Charles Dicken's A TALE OF TWO CITIES you will find that Sidney Carlton gives up his life for Charles Darnay because the girl,Lucy Manette, whom Sidney loved was actually in love with Charles and Charles was to be executed.

Is this not reflected in the words-AND GOD SO LOVED THE WORLD THAT HE GAVE UP HIS ONLY SON TO REDEEM MANKIND.

I enjoyed reading your interesting post May:)

Love for me is unconditional love for God's people. As Mel said, "Love is the very essence and nature of God" and that is why ---love is the reason why Jesus died for us , to redeem us and forgive our sins. Love is doing away from pride, selfishness, conceit and vain ambition, so that we can be filled with the nature of God's love.
