Human Suffering

I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us. And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast. If you suffer, it should not be as a murderer or thief or any other kind of criminal, or even as a meddler. However, if you suffer as a Christian, do not be ashamed, but praise God that you bear that name. Because the Lord disciplines the one he loves, and he chastens everyone he accepts as his son. If you are not disciplined—and everyone undergoes discipline—then you are not legitimate, not true sons and daughters at all. Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.

ASK YOURSELF:

Why is suffering neccessary?
How has Christ suffered for us?
Will suffering be everlasting to mankind?

Romans 8:18
1 Peter 5:10, 4:15,16
Hebrews 12:8
James 1:12

Suffering through trials are difficult but they always bring me closer to God and cause me to be more Christ-like.

Great questions as always!

Suffering does indeed seem an inevitable part of life. Sometimes I've suffered because of my own sinful choices, sometimes I've suffered because of the sinful choices of other people, sometimes I've suffered because we live in an imperfect world; whatever the reason, like everyone else, I don't like it. No one wants pain and suffering. But I will admit that some of the worst things I've had to go through have brought about the most positives changes in who I am.

Yes, our God is a God of testing. He tests those He loves whether they will remain faithful to Him. And when they pass the test, God rewards them handsomely. Thanks for the post. God bless you all always.

Hello May,

It is true suffering is part and parcel of our lives. The most inspiring story is that of Job in the Bible.A true believer of God and one who praised God at all times.Even he was tested in the most cruel way.He lost his property,he lost his family and he was afflicted with serous sicknesses and was thrown out of the town. Finally his friends came to taunt and tease him and prompting him to blame God.But Job stood steadfast to God even in the worst of times. Finally God restored to him everything many fold.

I am always inspired by the story of Job,

Best wishes,
Joseph
